Responsibilities:
About the Role:
Own end-to-end electronic hardware design for Industrial Automation / Industrial IoT products such as I/O modules, control/communication modules, gateways, sensor interfaces, and power/actuation boards.
• Translate requirements into robust electrical architecture and detailed schematics; drive PCB layout, prototyping, bring-up, validation, and transition to production.
• Work closely with Firmware, Mechanical, Test, and Manufacturing teams to deliver reliable, cost-effective, and compliant products.
• Exposure to Hazardous Area device design (ATEX/IECEx/IEC 60079), Functional Safety (IEC 61508 / ISO 13849), and/or Safe Design practices is a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
• Understand product requirements and define electrical architecture: power tree, isolation strategy, protection concept, communication interfaces, and I/O front-end design (AI/AO/DI/DO).
• Create detailed schematics including component selection, derating considerations, tolerances, protection circuits (ESD/EFT/surge), and industrial interface circuits (RS-485, CAN, Ethernet, SPI/I2C/UART, etc.).
• Perform PCB layout collaboration/review: placement constraints, creepage/clearance, split planes, grounding strategy, impedance considerations, and DFM/DFT readiness; Coordinate with PCB layout engineer when applicable.
• Generate manufacturing outputs and documentation: BOM with alternates, assembly drawings, Gerbers/ODB++, pick-and-place, test points list, and revision/change control.
• Prototype bring-up and debugging: power-on sequencing, boundary checks, interface validation, signal measurement, failure analysis, and rework guidance.
• Plan and execute board-level validation: functional tests, Knowledge of thermal checks, stress tests, and pre-compliance for EMI/EMC/ESD/EFT/surge; support certification labs when needed.
• Support firmware integration (MCU/SoC selection support, boot/clock/reset planning, debug headers, programming interfaces, and hardware-firmware boundary definition).
• Cost and reliability engineering: component risk assessment, lifecycle (NRND/EOL) monitoring, alternate qualification, and continuous improvement for yield and field reliability.
• Participate in design reviews and maintain technical documentation (design notes, calculations, risk register, DFMEA/FTA where required).
• Production and field support: root-cause analysis for failures, corrective actions, and sustaining engineering for released products.
Requirements:
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Industrial product hardware design experience across Analog/Digital/Power domains (3-5 years). Schematic capture and PCB design tool proficiency (Altium Designer preferred; OrCAD/Cadence/KiCad acceptable.
• Solid understanding of power supplies (buck/boost/LDO), protection, isolation, and industrial I/O conditioning (op-amps, ADC/DAC, current loops, digital isolators, relays, MOSFET drivers).
• Hands-on debugging with lab instruments (DMM, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, power analyzer, function generator, electronic load).
• Design for compliance: EMC/EMI concepts, ESD/EFT/surge robustness, creepage/clearance, grounding/shielding practices.
• Good documentation discipline and change management (ECO/ECN), and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
